🚨 BIG NEWS 🚨 Commitment alert!!!!
The Ostrava Steel Hawks are proud to announce the commitment of Jacob Medrzycki to our program for the upcoming season. 🔥
The 6’3” defenseman from Atlanta, Georgia joins Ostrava after competing with the Bremerton Sockeyes in the USPHL Premier. Medrzycki has also played AAA hockey in Boston and high-level youth hockey in Georgia, building a strong reputation as a dependable two-way defenseman with leadership qualities and a competitive edge.
“I chose to play for the Ostrava Steel Hawks because I wanted the opportunity to grow both as a hockey player and as a person,” said Medrzycki. “Playing and studying overseas will give me the chance to experience a new culture, compete at a high level, and challenge myself outside of my comfort zone. Czechia has a strong hockey tradition, and I’m confident this experience will help develop my skills, discipline, and understanding of the game.”
Jacob brings a winning background to Ostrava, including multiple youth championships, a third-place finish at Nationals, and a runner-up finish in the Georgia High School Championship. In 2023, he was also awarded the Blue Line MVP for his defensive play, leadership, and impact on the ice.
Director of Scouting Zac Pearson added:
“Jacob is the kind of player every program wants on the back end. He competes hard, plays with confidence, and brings a strong presence defensively. He’s a player who takes pride in his game and does the little things that help teams win.”
“What excites us most is his mindset. He’s willing to leave his comfort zone, move overseas, and fully commit to both hockey and academics. That says a lot about his character, and we believe he has a tremendous opportunity to continue developing in our environment.”
Welcome to Ostrava, Jacob! 🏒🔥
