Ostrava Steel Hawks Add Denis Houlahan to Scouting Staff
The Ostrava Steel Hawks are proud to announce the addition of Denis Houlahan to the organization as a Toronto Area Scout, further strengthening the program’s presence in one of North America’s top hockey markets.
Houlahan, a Toronto native, brings a wealth of experience in player development and scouting, having worked within some of the most respected minor hockey programs in Canada. Most recently, he has served as a scout with the Brampton Steelheads (OHL), giving him direct exposure to elite-level talent and the modern junior hockey landscape.
In addition to his scouting background, Houlahan has spent several years coaching within the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), including roles with the prestigious Toronto Marlboros AAA program, one of the most recognized development systems in North America.
His experience evaluating players at both the AAA and OHL levels provides the Steel Hawks with a strong advantage in identifying high-character, high-potential prospects across Ontario and beyond.
Steel Hawks Director of Hockey Operations Zac Pearson emphasized the importance of adding experienced evaluators to the organization’s growing scouting network.
“Denis brings a deep understanding of the game and a strong network within one of the most competitive hockey regions in the world. His experience at the AAA and OHL levels allows him to identify players who not only have skill, but also the character and compete level we’re looking for. He’s a great addition to our staff.”
Houlahan will play a key role in expanding the Steel Hawks’ recruiting footprint in Canada, helping the program continue to attract top talent ahead of its inaugural season in the European Union College Hockey League (EUCHL).
His addition reflects the Steel Hawks’ commitment to building a professional, well-connected scouting staff dedicated to identifying players who fit the program’s vision — combining elite hockey development with a European academic experience.
