Ostrava Steel Hawks Announce Commitment of Goaltender Ryan McNeil

OSTRAVA, Czechia — The Ostrava Steel Hawks are proud to announce the commitment of goaltender Ryan McNeil (’05) from Saratoga Springs, New York, ahead of the upcoming season.

McNeil joins the Steel Hawks as a driven, team-first goaltender known for his strong work ethic, competitive mindset, and ability to perform in high-pressure situations. His game is defined by confidence, controlled aggression, and a relentless compete level that allows him to give his team a chance to win every time he steps onto the ice.

“I chose the Steel Hawks because it gives me the opportunity to play high-level hockey while pursuing a strong education,” said McNeil. “I’m excited for the development path ahead and the opportunities to continue playing overseas after graduation. I’m looking forward to backstopping the Steel Hawks and contributing to a successful first season.”

Hockey Director Zac Pearson emphasized the impact McNeil is expected to bring to the program.

“Ryan is the type of goaltender that can change the outcome of a game,” said Pearson. “He competes relentlessly, thrives under pressure, and has the mentality you want in the crease when it matters most. What stands out is his drive—he’s never satisfied and is always pushing to get better.

The Steel Hawks continue to build a competitive roster focused on development, culture, and long-term success, and McNeil represents a strong addition to that vision.

Ostrava looks forward to welcoming Ryan and supporting his growth both on the ice and in the classroom as he begins his Steel Hawks career.
