Ostrava Steel Hawks get commitment from Defenseman Heonwoo “Danny” Ro

Ostrava, Czech Republic — The Ostrava Steel Hawks are proud to announce the commitment of defenseman Heonwoo “Danny” Ro, who will join the program for the upcoming season.

Ro brings a diverse international playing background, having competed last season with Esbjerg 2 in Denmark and most recently in both the North American NCDC and EHL leagues. His experience across multiple high-level leagues has positioned him well for continued development at the collegiate level.

“I chose to commit to the Ostrava Steel Hawks because of the program’s strong academic opportunities and its flexible financial structure compared to other NCAA Division III options,” said Ro. “I’m excited for this next chapter and the opportunity to continue developing both on the ice and in the classroom.”

An offensive-minded defenseman, Ro is known for his ability to skate the puck, join the rush, and create scoring opportunities in the offensive zone. In addition to his impact from the blue line, he offers positional versatility and can contribute at forward when needed.

“We’re very excited to add Danny to our program,” said Recruiting Director Zac Pearson. “He’s a dynamic, offensive-minded defenseman who plays with confidence and creativity. His ability to move the puck and generate offense from the back end fits exactly the style we want to play.”

Pearson also emphasized Ro’s international experience and adaptability.

“Danny has competed in multiple countries and leagues, which speaks to his hockey IQ and ability to adjust. He’s the type of player who can come in, make an impact, and continue to grow within our program both athletically and academically.”

Ro is expected to join the Steel Hawks ahead of the upcoming academic year as the program continues to build a competitive and development-focused roster.
